  1. Group O = no antigens, anti-A and anti-B.
    1. O neg is the universal donor
    2. Group A = antigen A, anti-B.
      1. Group B = antigen B, anti- A
        1. Group AB = antigen A & B, no antibodies
          1. Universal recipient
          2. Plasma is removed from the blood before it's given to someone else.
            1. Antibodies are in plasma, antigens are on red blood cells
            2. Rhesus positive people have the antigen D
              1. Baby can pass this to mother in womb, so she might react with her next rhesus positive baby, as she will have produced anti-D last time.
              2. To prevent transplant rejection immunosupressant drugs and irradiation with x-rays is used.
