How Would You Score on the PISA Test?

PISA 2012 resultsThe internet is ablaze today with the publication of the PISA 2012 Results, worldwide academic tests designed to assess education quality. The tests, run by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), attempt to compare the learning abilities of 15 year olds worldwide. They have been running every 3 years since 2000 and are seen as a comparative assessment of the various education models worldwide.

The tests attempt to measure ability in 3 areas; Maths, Reading and Science. For the PISA 2012 Results which were published today, Shanghai-China was the top performer. Asian countries performed particularly strongly, with Singapore, Hong Kong-China, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Macao-China, Japan, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the Netherlands, in descending order of their scores, rounding out the top ten performers in mathematics. For a further breakdown of the results, read this OECD summary document with the main findings.
