Collaborating with others is a sure-fire way of increasing your understanding.
We all know the benefits of sharing but seem to think it only applies to funny cat videos or fail complications so we rarely think how it could help us study. This is because studying for exams is seen as a solitary act but really we should focus on how it can be social too. The benefits of social studying and sharing study notes are pretty great:
When setting study goals and study tasks, the most important thing to do is be honest and realistic with yourself. The most direct benefit is that you get new study aids to use and study without having to spend time creating them. Obviously anything that saves you time when it comes to studying is great but it should be said that this doesn’t mean you can only rely on others to create content for you! You can’t expect to get everything without giving anything back. You need to get the ball rolling by creating your own content and sharing it out to friends and hopefully they’ll share their stuff back with you. If someone shares back just one study aid every time you share with them then your content pool will increase, and the more you have to study the better!
It’s all well and good having a lot of different study aids but what makes them really valuable is the fact that they are all coming from different people, different perspectives. The mix of views will give you an edge when it comes to exams, you’ll be able to answer questions in a more nuanced fashion, and in case you don’t get it, a more nuanced answer means higher grades! Your study buddies will give you new facts and ideas that you never thought of and vice versa you’ll do the same for them. Everyone’s a winner, except these who aren’t on Examtime!
Seeing your friends update their profile and sharing all their study aids will hopefully feel like a warm glow to you because you have already done the same thing ages ago! You’re on top of things and have everything covered… right? We all start the year with the best of intentions but sometimes these intentions slip and slide into a lazy procrastination. Seeing your friends updating and sharing will light a fire under your proverbial derriere and get you studying. This can only be a good thing, I’m sure you’ll agree!
So, start creating and sharing your study aids today. Join the back and forth between your study buddies and study smarter by studying social!
